Laser treatments for the skin and the body

Monday, December 6th, 2010

Since the very dawn of time, people have wanted to reverse the effect of ageing on the skin so as to look younger. Technology has finally reached a point where the use of laser can provide a variety of treatments to the skin from smoothing out wrinkles to removing unwanted hair to tightening the skin. For instance, pixel skin resurfacing can repair skin damage by acne or scarring by removing surface layers of skin and stimulating the skin underneath to grow healthy and smooth. You can get all the benefits of chemical or abrasive smoothening without the pain and a much shorter time to heal.

Another major use of laser technology is in the removal of unwanted hair. This represents a major cosmetic issue for both men and women and long-term solutions have been missing. Lasers use just enough heat energy to damage the hair follicle in the area that is being treated so that it cannot regenerate or renew hair. The treatment is safe and painless though several sessions may be required to achieve a permanent result.

Weight loss is a major problem for many people because there are pockets of fat in the body that simply will not respond to traditional diet and exercise regimes. With the use of laser, a technique called body sculpting has evolved, which involves reshaping the body surgically. The heat from the laser is used to liquefy the fat pockets and the liquid fat is then removed with the help of a vacuum. The procedure is highly effective, especially on smaller areas where liposuction may be difficult.

In the Zerona procedure, a low-level laser that does not generate any heat is used to perform the procedure. It is not invasive, and low level lasers have no recorded side effects. The patient feels absolutely nothing and recovery time is minimal. You must keep in mind that this is not a crash weight loss program but a programme to remove fat and sculpt your body for the best possible results.

Margy Skin Diary 14 Sep 10

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

It’s one week on from my 2nd CO2 laser treatment!

On the day I had the procedure done and the two days following my skin was pretty sore and swollen and I thought it would take weeks to look anywhere near normal again!

On day four my skin had calmed down massively,  although it was still red and very dry (similar to a post skin peel).

Today, seven days on I can’t believe that it is pretty much back to normal (considering how it first looked). Now I only have slight dryness,  and the results are looking brilliant!! I would definitely recommend it to anyone considering having this done!

Peaches and Cream – why a good canvas (skin) is so important

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

When people compliment me on the way I look I am not embarrassed to talk about the treatments I’ve had.

I’ve had botox, lip plumping, Sculptra, laser treatments. To me it’s about looking your best, and I tell my clients there’s nothing wrong with that.

My skin however, I’ve always been a bit obsessive – the roots are in my spotty youth which really never went away. If I’d been born with plump, flawless skin – yes I’d have been very lucky.  The most youthful asset any woman can have is a peaches and cream complexion.

My philosophy to ageing is yes I’m older but I want to look fresh – if I look tired – I feel tired!

Don’t you feel the same!

So back to the skin – How did I improve it?  Well systematically and externally.

That means a great new antibiotic combination from the states and yes exfoliation, exfoliation and exfoliation!

How do we exfoliate?

  1. Good skin care based on alpha hydroxyl acids, antioxidants and our own secret chemistry ‘Skinscription’
  2. Regular peels – all naturally based with minimal downtime
  3. IPL facial – a great solution for pigmentation, sun damage, red veins and collagen stimulus
  4. CO2 laser – yes after this my skin transformed YouTube Preview ImageYes, healing did take a couple of weeks but I’ve never looked back.  The CO2 procedure made me fearless of any cosmetic procedure – but as I always say, no pain –no gain

Look in the mirror….

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

Ok we all look in the mirror and know what bothers us, but is it possible to enhance what we’ve got simply without big costs and instantly? Well here are my top tips for all you at home.

1. The eyes have it
Lashes that are instant, easy and yes if need be you can do it yourself. Add instant glamour by simply adding a few extensions to the outer corners of the eye, producing a lifting appearance to the outer lids…

2. Brows
Take a look in the mirror, as we age what happens is the hair thins and lightens. So how did we forget those brows.
You can dye and even tattoo them back but for instant and simple solution simply use a soft kohl pencil and colour them in, even if you’re a blond. Go on try one and what do you think?

3.Lips….thinner lips, loss of definition and lip line yearn for RestylaneGlossy lips

…well an instant trick I learnt from my makeup artist friend Wendy was apply a small amount of illuminator along the outer body of the lip apply a soft lip line and then a clear gloss instant definition volume and youth .

4. Skin
Need a polyfiller for those imperfections…yes simple use a light reflecting primer under any foundation to smooth soften and perfect any imperfection

5. Hair….lack of lustre, drab, need an instant lift? Then use Moroccanoil.com Yes a small application all over and at the roots gives instant smoothness, shine and defrizz all in one

Follow the 5 steps above and let me see your results….guaranteed results

Could your facial expressions age you?

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

Just like going to the gym. Of course facial exercises via facial expression can age you.  But ladies and gents don’t worry – faces were created to move!

As a practitioner who believes –‘so natural, everybody notices – but nobody knows ‘(although I tell everyone about my procedures!) I believe that faces should move.

So thank god for a little bit of Botox, Restylane and laser resurfacing.

That’s why our Wrinkle Free Wednesdays are so popular.
